12. FROM CRICKLEWOOD TO HOLLYWOOD

Ten years after penning his best-selling cult novel 'Deadmeat' the CRICKLEWOOD based writer Q, has finally completed his artistic journey by turning his book into his directorial movie debut. It can be seen at THE HOLLYWOOD BLACK FILM FESTIVAL on JUNE 7

'Deadmeat' previewed on the big screen at the Tricycle cinema in Kilburn, London, in the UK. It took just one week to sell out - and there was not a free ticket in sight. Trailers on Youtube were enough to convince the public to put their hands in their pockets to support a homegrown movie. Rarely has a British film boasted such an impressive cast, featuring some of Britain's best known Black television and film actors. The cast includes:

Jo Martin (Crouches, Queen and Country) Clare Perkins (Bullet Boy, Secrets and Lies) Martina Laird (Casualty) Robbie Gee (Snatch, Mean Machine, Pirates of the Caribbean) Q (Mr.Johnson, Aria) Wil Johnson (Waking The Dead, SW9, Adulthood) Geff Francis (Desmonds, The Walker, Queen and Country) Brian Bovell (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Love Actually) Roger Griffiths (Dub Plate Drama, Batman Begins, Buffalo Soldiers) Cyril Nri (The Bill) Oscar James (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Jason Fredrick (Adulthood, Goal) Rianna Scipio (BBC TV presenter) Chris Tummings (Water, Desmond’s, No Problem) Che Walker (Kiss, Kiss Bang Bang, Bedlam)
